The Oswego Music Hall is proud to announce a concert featuring the dynamic Celtic Duo, Cassie and Maggie MacDonald.
These rising stars will shine on the Music Hall stage located at the McCrobie Building, 41 Lake Street Oswego. Doors open at 6:45 for the 7:30 event. Advance sale tickets are available for $16.00 and at the door for $18.00.
Cassie and Maggie encompass everything you could ask for in a musical act, their talent is only surpassed by the joy with which they so generously share it. Exciting and innovative, they have found the perfect balance between musical integrity, and sheer entertainment. Sisters, cohorts and collaborators, Cassie and Maggie have been enchanting audiences far and wide with their infectious energy, driving rhythms and lilting melodies.
Together these delightful sisters bring more than your average fiddle and piano duo; Cassie is an award winning highland and step dancer and also sings harmony for Maggie. In addition to her piano playing, Maggie sings lead, plays guitar, banjo, and accordion and is also an accomplished step dancer. Their music fits together seamlessly encompassing various styles. Their vocal harmonies are sweet yet powerful and their step dancing exact and exciting.
The duo’s growing list of accolades include New Group of the Year Awards for 2014 and 2015, LiveIreland Radio Awards, 2014 and 2015, Emerging Artist Album of the Year Award from the Chicago Irish-American News and a Galaxie Radio Rising Star Award for both years as well. You can enjoy the performance of this exceptional duo at the all-volunteer family friendly Music Hall venue .The venue is the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake Street, Oswego. The atmosphere is intimate with candle-lit tables surrounding a small stage. Desserts, snacks, popcorn and beverages are available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased on-line at http://oswegomusichall.org/ or at the river’s end bookstore, 19 West Bridge Street in Oswego. Holders of tickets purchased before 1 pm on the day of the concert will have preferred seating. After 1 pm, seating will be general admission. Doors open at 6:45 pm and ticket prices for this event are $16.00 if purchased in advance and $18.00 at the door. Children under 12 are half- price and those under 5 are free.
The next National Showcase will be on December 3rd and will feature Seaglass with Andrew VanNorstrand. Seaglass is a brand new dance band featuring Rachel Bell on accordion, Eileen Nicholson on fiddle and Andrew VanNorstrand on guitar. They have a unique, wide-ranging repertoire from classic New England contra dance tunes to French balfolk and English Country Dance music, often weaving in roots-rock grooves and captivating improvisations. Open Mic Fridays are held the Friday before all Saturday shows. Performers get a chance to showcase their talents on the National Stage with a world class sound system and the new, professional stage lighting. All ages are welcome, making it a popular place for local and regional talent to be heard. The entry fee is $2.00 to cover BMI and ASCAP fees. Signups start at 6:30 and the entertainment runs from 7-10 pm.
The second Hook Series of the season will take place on December 9. “The Hook” highlights the talents of three Regional Singer/Songwriters in an intimate round robin setting allowing the performers an opportunity to interact with the audience, the other artists and discuss their creative process. Local favorite John McConnell will cohost the event with Syracuse luminaries Charley Orlando and Bea.
The Music Hall has been run entirely by volunteers from its inception over 39 years ago. Volunteers can earn admission to shows through different tasks. Music Hall concerts are made possible in part with funding by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
