Cassie and Maggie MacDonald

Cassie and Maggie MacDonald are a rising Celtic roots duo from Antigonish in Nova Scotia. The sisters, steeped in Eastern Canada's diverse and vibrant musical heritage, play driving fiddle, piano, guitar, banjo and accordion -- and true to the tradition, both sing and step dance as well. They are equally at home with traditional songs, driving contemporary and original tunes, and unique juxtapositions such as Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata woven into a set of reels. The joy and dynamism in their music-making shines through to audiences across America and Europe as tours bring them to increasingly prestigious festivals and venues, while reviewers continue to heap praise on their two albums. Cassie and Maggie have won a variety of awards; to Canada's prestigious Galaxie Rising Star award in 2010 they've added 2015 Live Ireland Radio's New Group of the Year, Emerging Artist Album of the Year, and the Chicago Irish-American News's World Song of the Year. Live Ireland Radio says: "What an unbelievably gifted duo. The train is just gathering steam and leaving the station on these new stars. It is going to be a glorious journey, and it is already well-begun."
